Baby it's cold outside!

We're very thankful the month of January has come and gone! I think this has to be one of the coldest winters on record.  I wish the workplace would shut down when the temps are fall below negative, but unfortunately we all go about our business.  With the way it's been this winter, we'd never go anywhere if we stayed home due to the temperatures!  Thankful for cars that start during these ridiculous cold temperatures, and a furnace that keeps us warm! We haven't even been able to enjoy the snow this winter.  It's been so cold that we can't go sledding or make a snowman!  Whenever it is above freezing, there isn't much snow.  It's getting old fast, but we know as the time passes so does the weather.
Easton and I ventured out to our first pee-wee wrestling tournament and CL-GLR varsity wrestling tournament this past month.  Easton did great and seemed pretty pleased with all the excitement.  I hesitated to bring him to sporting events, I didn't think he'd sit in the stands.  But he does pretty well. As long as we have an open bleacher in front of us, snacks, and friends, he stays content.  Next on the agenda, a CLHS basketball game!
Here are some pictures from the month.

What, you don't read books naked? ;) I couldn't resist taking these pictures, Mark thinks I'm weird, but those butt cheeks are just too cute!

My Breakfast Boy

Easton loves breakfast just like his Momma! It's my favorite meal of the day and I think Easton would agree it's his.  He has now tried grape, apple, white grape, orange, V8 Splash, and cranberry juice.  He is really enjoying Grape juice lately, it was one of the last ones he tried, but he loves it!  He eats oatmeal and eggs with Mark & I, which I try to make at least 3-4 times a week.  If it's just Easton and I for supper, sometimes we have breakfast twice :)  We found out he likes apple butter on his toast and still enjoys his Gerber yogurt.  Some days he likes pancakes or French toast, but it's hit and miss.  But that's with everything anymore.  He seems to eat some meals really well, then I'll make them again, and he doesn't eat it.  I think it just depends how hungry he is and if he's going through a growth spurt- which he just had!
We weaned out the bottle end of January, and he's doing fine!  The first couple of nights he noticed our routine had changed, but doesn't seem to care.  I probably could have done it much sooner, but I liked knowing he was getting that nutrition.
After his 15 month well baby check (@ 16 mths) the doctor informed us he's a genius and is at the 98% percentile for head, weight, and height! Not much has changed there, he's always tested as a "genius" and always in the 90's for stats.  He's a big, healthy, happy, boy!
Wasn't a huge fan of pop tarts, which is fine.  They aren't very healthy ;) That's one of Mommy's pregnancy cravings, so they are in the house.

Loves muffins!

Can't get it open fast enough :)

Broncos Baby!

We tried out the jersey for the first time all season (was in a bin of 2T clothes) and it fit like a charm! I think Easton wondered why I was so picture happy that morning, he was annoyed I think.

We spent Sunday in West Bend watching the Broncos vs. Patriots game.  We went to visit my Grandma since we never made it over the holidays.  She was happy to say the least, and we all enjoyed ourselves.  Easton did great, and made me realize we should make that trip more often.

The navy shirt was the best I could do to cheer on the team! Do they make Broncos maternity clothes?!?

Next stop, SUPER BOWL!!!

Blizzard= family time!

The day started out fine, but shortly after 12:30 it made a turn for the worse! I was in Rock Valley and decided to head home around 1:00. Little did I know that it would let up, and the drive would have been better around 5:00. But anyways, away I went in my little yellow car.  It was probably the worst road conditions I've driven in since I got stuck at the Sloan, IA gas station coming home from the Omaha!  The wind gusts were close to 50-60 mph, and the visibility was terrible!  Some roads were iced over, and I swear my little car was being blown over!  Right outside of town on Hwy 75 there was a 6 car pile up, so glad I wasn't in that!  They had fire trucks stopping traffic and detouring you onto gravel.   The only downside to that was there are no lines on gravel roads to let you know where you're at!  But thankfully it was only about 5 miles of gravel, and I never met anyone coming the other direction.  I was VERY happy to be pulling into town that day, and thankful that I got home safe.  Around 2:00 I got a call that daycare was closing early, so I had to go get Easton.  I knew James & Cori were still in Rock Valley, so I got Preston too.  School was out at 12:45, and Mom had picked up Cameron.  She offered to make supper that night, and since I didn't know if Mark was going to make it home or not, I decided to get the boys and head straight there.  It was a fun "snow day" and thankfully everyone got home safe.
Cameron becomes a horse!

Easton & his tool bench

Easton got a new toy, and it is quickly becoming one of his favorites! I'm guessing he loves the noise it makes, or maybe it's a sign he wants to be a handy man :) Either way, he was sure enjoying it this particular day!

Happy New Year!

We had a very low key New Year's Eve this year. We were home as a family.  Watched a movie and woke up on the couch just in time to see the count down on TV:)  I think next year I will make more of a plan, seeing everyone's FB post and pictures really made me feel like I missed out!  But being pregnant, it probably wouldn't have been as much fun going out anyways.  It was a good year to be home I guess.

Looking back from this point, I realized we've had so much going on in life.  In 2010 we got engaged, 2011 we got married & bought a house, 2012 we had Easton, and 2013 we didn't have a real big life changing event!  Gave us some time to breathe and enjoy all that we had. It was filled with some great vacations, family weddings, and many memories watching Easton go from tummy time, sitting, crawling, walking & running!  2014 we already know will be life changing as we'll go from a family of 3 to 4 :)

Now that we know we are having a baby boy, I've started preparing.   We've ordered a 2nd crib & mattress, picked out paint, and ordered some bedding.  I went to Kid's Town where we purchased everything the first time around and looked at double strollers.  My first question was "do you take trade-in's on single strollers"?  That will come, but we've got some time.  Easton will actually be moving into the bigger bedroom upstairs, and we'll put baby in the nursery.  With a couple additions and changes, it will be perfect.  I wasn't ready to move Easton to a toddler bed just yet, with all the changes coming his way, that wasn't one I wanted to make.  He sleeps so well, and loves his bed.  But I really think he'll like having a room that's bigger, and has more space for his toys.  I'm planning on making a corner of the room a reading area.  He loves books, so I've got some ideas of Pinterest, hope it turns out! The plan is to transition his room around the April 1st.  I have to cut the bottle out around March 1st, so we've got some big plans in the works for Easton :) The best news I've heard recently, is some little boys are potty trained or well on their way around age 2!!!! I didn't think about that happening anytime in the near future, I had accepted the fact I was going to have two kids in diapers for awhile.  But this summer we'll start the talk about potty training, and see how it goes.  I know you can't force them, they have to want to do it.

Here are some recent pictures of Easton, he's definitely pushing his limits! You can see here he found a new use for the footstool :)

He likes to watch TV, I probably need to start rationing how much he gets to watch!
