Welcome to the world, Easton Thomas!

With love, we welcome Easton Thomas! His arrival seemed a bit delayed, but so glad it happend when it did.  I was suppose to go in on Friday morning 9/28, but got a call on Thursday night that they were so busy they didn't have room for me.  So we were scheduld for 9/29.  We got to the hospital to check in around 8:45 AM.  Around 11 AM I finally had an IV started (took 3 different nurses and pokes, I was so swollen they couldn't find a vein!).  I took a pill to start the induction, and it didn't work.  They gave me another dose and it did nothing.  I started pitocin around 7 PM and by 2 AM no contractions.  I was even maxed out on the level they could give me!  The plan at this point was to take me off all meds and let my cells "refresh".  At this point I was starting to wonder if he was ever going to come out!! On Sunday morning at 7:30 AM they started pitocin again and at 9:30 AM the doctor made her rounds.  It was so nice to meet Dr. Cole.  She was awesome.  Around 9 :45 AM she broke my water which really helped get things rolling.  From that point on I lost track of time.  We labored all afternoon and around 2:00 PM, I got my epidural.  I think Mark was happy with the timing of that as the Broncos game had just started ;)  I don't remember much after that point.  At 7:30 PM the nurse's changed shifts and we were sad to see our nurse go, but we were blessed with another great one for the night shift! She checked me and much to my surprise I was at a 10 and ready to start pushing!! So the party started and was over by 8:18 PM.  Easton made a swell arrival, I will never forget seeing him when he came out.  I remember saying to myself  " A BABY" and then corrected myself and thought he's MY BABY!! After labor, my placenta wouldn't detach so I ended up in surgery with a D&C.  Long story short, it was much more painful than the delivery and very thankful my bleeding stopped and nothing more needed to be done!
Thanks for all the prayers and support during our long weekend and throughout the pregnancy.  Easton is doing awesome and so am I.  Other than the lack of sleep, I'm feeling great!
Here are some pictures from the first week.
